MOAB

Isaiah 15: 1-9

 I. The Burden Against Moab (vs. 1-4)

a. How quickly does it seem destruction will come upon the cities of Moab?

b. Verse 2 makes reference to the temple of Dibon.  This was where the worship of Chemosh and Baal Peor were worshiped.  This included human sacrifice and cult sexual practices.  Do you believe this contributes to the reasons for God’s judgment?

c. Of what were baldness and the shaving of beards indicative?

d. How desperate is the situation when even the warriors lives are burdensome to them?

e. In Judges 11:17 and Numbers 20:14-21 what reception had Moab given Israel during the Exodus?

f. When obstruction did not stop them and cursing by Balaam did not work what did Moab do that led to the downfall of Israel? (Numbers 25:1-5)

II. Nowhere To Hide (vs. 5-9)

a. The people of Moab will scatter like quail but where will they find sanctuary?

b. The judgment of God will come in the form of military conquest but what else will be happening at the same time?

c. How will the people of Moab be killed?

Application:  Is there greater judgment when someone leads others into sin?

The example of Moab is one example of a nation planting the seeds of sin and addiction into the lives of another nation.  Was Israel able to get a pass and just blame Moab or does God Judge Israel for her sin and Moab for hers?

Does it work the same way for us that God will hold each one accountable?
